Online vs. Offline Dating
The appeal of meeting your future significant other online is so powerful it can sometimes blind you to obvious warning signs. Curiously enough, online dating can be a sort of modern-age paradox.
On the one hand, meeting someone through a dating service can seem tempting and much easier than in real life, at least when observed superficially. Sure, you don’t need to go to bars or nightclubs, approach complete strangers, face rejections, and other uncomfortable situations. But that doesn’t necessarily make online dating easier.
Online dating is not without its challenges
First of all, it requires skill to build an attractive dating profile, take and select interesting photos, describe yourself, sell yourself. Some people have a natural talent for these kinds of tasks, while others struggle or simply think they are not necessary because they have been lead to believe online dating requires little or no effort.
However, to achieve success in online dating, one of the most important things to remember is to not be gullible or naïve (easily manipulated) and resist the urge to sign up to the first site that promises overnight success (by the way, any online dating service promising quick and easy results is one you should avoid at all costs). Unfortunately, this is a type of knowledge is very difficult to teach.
Therefore, if you want to meet your partner online, it is important to know how to identify and avoid scams. If after signing up to a website you are immediately bombarded by tons of messages from incredibly hot girls – before you even had a chance to upload a single photo – chances are those messages come from fembots: fake female profiles controlled by computer programs.
Remember that as with anything in life, good things come to those who are patient and sensible. No girl will want to hook up online with a dude who uploaded only two blurry photos where his face is hardly visible. When women face a 10 to 1 ratio of women to men, most of them will naturally be reluctant to invest their time in a man who cannot find it in him to write a few interesting things about himself describing his passions, hobbies, and goals.
Whether online or offline, dating is about personal marketability. Think of yourself as a brand. What makes you attractive? Why should a woman choose you over someone else? Building a brand may take time and effort, but in the end, it will definitely be worth the effort.
